SDBRI Welcomes Wael M. ElShamy, Ph.D. as Associate Professor

Dr. ElShamy joined the institute as Associate Professor. He received his Ph.D. from the Royal Karolinska Institute in Sweden. Most recently, he was director, Molecular Cancer Therapeutic Program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s Cancer Institute. While there, he obtained a patent covering a method to diagnose and treat several types and subtypes of cancer. The method may lead to the first targeted therapy for triple negative breast cancer and add to therapies for other cancers.
