Partnering in philanthropy with Las Patronas
San Diego BioMed expresses sincere gratitude to be chosen as a Minor Beneficiary for Las Patronas’ 2025-2026 term. These funds not only benefit our organization, but the patients we serve. San Diego BioMed is primarily funded by grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), but we have prioritized our available funding to purchase reagents and pay salaries for lab staff to build and extend new research programs because we find that the quality of the science trumps the tools used.
Equipment and tools are far from unimportant, however, and in a new era where the future of biomedical research increasingly depends on access to powerful, modern infrastructure, we must also bridge the gap between scientific inquiry and new technologies. This is where Las Patronas helps us realize our vision.
Funding from Las Patronas will directly finance a new, enhanced, ultra-low freezer—an essential tool that will transform our joint cancer research programs by enabling the safe storage of precious human tissue samples. It is ultimately key to maintaining the integrity of our materials and research efforts. Thus, these funds will be leveraged to expand and accelerate these projects towards identifying new biological pathways and therapeutic targets to prevent cancer progression and recurrence.
Thank you for your belief in our mission, Las Patronas! We look forward to future work.
