Dr. Cecilia Marcondes’ research is selected for the San Diego Center for AIDS Research Director’s Choice as an outstanding study
Research on mechanisms that explain methamphetamine use in HIV-infected people, led by SDBRI scientist Dr. Cecilia Marcondes, is selected for the Director’s Choice as an outstanding study by UCSD Center for AIDS Research. Her study explains how inflammatory processes in the brain caused by HIV can be worsened by the use of methamphetamine which correlates with an increase in a chemokine receptor called CCR5.
